Add New Article

When adding a new article to the site log in to the CMS and from the Articles page click on the “Add a New Record” button located under the search section.

The add article page opens to display the “simple to use” system for adding content to your site. There are several options to choose from to assist you in adding the content to the right section of the site.

Choose Category Drop Down Menu
When publishing content you need to select the appropriate category for your new article, this is the drop down list of all currently available categories in which to publish. You can add other categories as needs be but we will cover that a little later.

Publish Date
When publishing content you need to select the appropriate date for your new article. You can add a date later then current date and the CMS it would publish automatically the article at the date you have selected.

However, even if the author wants to publish the article right away, the article still needs to be time stamped.

To time stamp an article simply click inside the input field and a little calendar will open up, once the calendar has opened click on the date you want your article to be published. Once a date has been selected by clicking on that date the input field will automatically be formatted and filled in.
 
Add Article Image
This feature it would publish a thumbnail in the list of articles and also in the body of the article. The image can be uploaded on the local server or can be from the web. The image should be at least 250x250px in resolution and high quality if the article is meant to be on the main index page as a main article. For the articles list the system would create a 46x46px thumbnail. For the main article it would resize the width at 234px. The height of the image for the main article is variable and it would preferable to have a square image.
Use the Browse button to locate the image on your computer and once you have found it simply click on it and the address for the image will be automatically added to the input field.

Main Check Box
Main check box for activating the article you are planning to add as a main article on the website. This box should not be checked if you don’t want the article to go to the main index page.

Author Drop Down Menu
This is very similar to the Category Drop Down but it is used to credit the author of the new article. You can add other authors as needs be but we will cover that a little later.

Simply use the current list of authors in the drop down to credit the author of the new article.

Name - Article Title
This input field is pretty self explanatory. Simply type in the title of your new article in this field and the title will be automatically formatted for your new article.

A few tips on Article titles; try to keep them fairly short and try to incorporate your targeted keywords within the article title. For example there is an article titled “Early look at HOT Seat... 2008?” – we might want to change the title to include some other keyword like “NFL” or “Football” just so we can help the uninitiated reader to better understand the content at a glance.

HTML Page – URL of the article
This input field is pretty self explanatory. Simply type in this field the URL of your new article.

A few tips on Article URL; try to keep them fairly short and try to incorporate your targeted keywords within the URL.
