Add Article Content

This is the built in word processor where we would enter the main body of our content. This built in word processor is quite powerful as it allows us to format our copy using some familiar tools. There are quite a few tools to choose from when formatting our copy and the easiest way for you to see what they do is to hover your pointer over a given tool and a fly out description will open describing the function of a given button or tool.

You can see that the Article Content is broken into two distinct sections; 3 Toolbars of buttons and commands and the large empty space where content would be added by either typing it or pasting pre-written content. When importing content from MS Word use the “Paste from Word” functions to remove any MS Word formatting.

As previously stated, there are quite a few buttons and tools available for this word processor and these will be covered a little more in depth later.

Tags
This feature allows insertion of keywords to make easier the visitors experience in finding related articles. Add keywords separated with comma (,).

Other Features
On the lower part of the screen of the Add Article page you will notice a few other options; these are for SEO purposes and to add alt tag to the main image of the article. These other features are described below.

SEO Meta
The SEO Meta is broken down into 4 categories; title, description, keywords and alt tag. These input fields are here so that whoever is adding SEO content to any given article can be added to a specific page. Although these input fields are not intended to be used by any given author they are described in brief below.

Title
This Meta tag is displayed at the top of a browser and should closely match the article title. It can also be used to add keywords to the page. These titles should generally be less than 70 characters in length.

Description
This Meta tag is used to describe what the content of a page is about. This tag should not contain advertising copy for the page/site but rather should be a short, accurate description of what is on the page. The title should be as close as possible to the beginning of the description and the description should be confined to about 30 words maximum.

Keywords
This Meta tag is ignored by most search engines but should be added regardless. When adding keywords it is important to remember to only use words that actually appear within the article content. When selecting keywords from the content, try to choose the words that best reflect the main topic of the article.

Image Alt Tag
This input field is used to add an Alt tag to an image. This Alt tag will not be displayed within the image but rather it is used to communicate with non-graphical browsers the topic of the picture.
